Terms of Use

Plain-language terms for a free app. This is product copy, not a substitute for advice from your own lawyer.

Agreement

By downloading, installing, or using Artos (“the app”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the app. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean the operator of Artos.

What Artos is

Artos is a free Bible reading app for personal, non-commercial use. Optional gifts, when available, never unlock Scripture and never create a paid right to features in this free version.

Use at your own risk

You use Artos entirely at your own risk. The app is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. That includes merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted service, and error-free operation.

No professional or pastoral advice

Artos is not a church, pastor, counselor, or medical or legal service. Nothing in the app is personal spiritual, medical, legal, or other professional advice. Seek qualified human help when you need it.

Scripture text

Bible text is provided for reading and study. We do not guarantee that any edition is free of transcription or packaging errors, complete for every purpose, or a fit for every tradition. Public-domain and pack editions follow their own notices and licenses where the app shows them.

Your content and device

Bookmarks, highlights, notes, labels, and reading place are stored on your device (see Privacy). You are responsible for your device, backups, and anything you enter. We are not responsible for loss of local data after reinstall, a device change, or failure.

Acceptable use

Do not misuse the app. Do not reverse engineer it beyond what the law allows. Do not try to disrupt or abuse services we may link to. Do not use it unlawfully. You may not resell the app as your own product.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we and the people who operate Artos are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of Artos or inability to use it, even if we were told such damages might happen. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim (usually zero for free use) or (b) USD $50.

Indemnity

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) that arise from your misuse of the app or your violation of these terms.

Third-party services

If you open a website, donation option, or other third-party service from Artos, that service’s own terms and privacy rules apply. We are not responsible for third-party sites or payment processors.

Children and family use

Artos is meant for family-safe Scripture reading. Parents and guardians are responsible for how children use devices and apps in their care.

Changes

We may update these terms. If you keep using Artos after an update, you accept the revised terms. The version in the app and on this site is the current one.
